Bergson, long relegated to obscurity, has re-emerged today - wreathed in glory at last achieved - that posthumous glory which is the only true one, being no longer temporal but essentially spiritual. This collection of twenty-four previously unpublished contributions is the fruit of a considerable renewal of interest over the past few years in Bergsonian studies. It takes stock of current research both in France and abroad, and globally interweaved two perspectives. The first provides a certain number of different viewpoints each of which serves as an introduction to Bergson's entire oeuvre, tackling its principal themes (conscience, duration, memory, imagination, virtuality, the life force, morality and religion). The second proposes a series of confrontations whose purpose is to highlight his profound originality through analogies, contradictions and possible outcomes. Indeed, one of the long-term difficulties in grasping Bergson's thinking is the way it sidesteps traditional conceptual contradictions by refusing to take a stance in relation to them. Comparing it to the philosophy of Spinoza, Leibniz, Maine de Biran, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Le Roy, Deleuze and Levinas enables us to situate it more comfortably on the fresco of the history of philosophy where, having become indispensable, it has now achieved the status of classic thinking.
